COURSE OUTLINE
Class A program is approximately 25 hours total length of time required. This includes approximately 10 hours backing the trailer, 5-6 hours theory course, 5-6 hours pretrip inspection, and unlimited city driving until your on-the-road is 100%.
Class B program can be done much quicker, due to no trailer for parking.

- Parallel drivers side
- 90 degree alley dock
- Road driving and shifting in bobtail
- Road driving with trailer
- Review parking
- Inspection + Air Brakes
Pre trip inspection - windshield, cab, engine, front end, brakes, steering suspension components, air compressor assembly and lines, exhaust, fifth wheel, trailer bed, trailer suspension and brake assemblies, lights
In-cab inspection - sun visor, mirrors, windshield, dashboard, gauges, HVAC controls, steering wheel and controls, seats, seatbelts, pedals, safety triangles, fire extinguisher
Air brakes - pressurizing system, applied leakage test, low pressure warning, spring brake popout, governer cut-out, governer cut-in, emergency brake test, parking brake test, service
Drive test - proper speed, turn signals, turns, distance, observation for bicyclists, intersections, railroad tracks, freeway, stop signs
Skills test - parallel parking, offset parking, straight backing, alley dock
Shifting - upshifting, downshifting

OBTAINING THE PERMIT
2. Download the DMV Commercial Driver Handbook (or pick one up at the DMV)
3. Install the following phone apps - CDL Prep 2019 (RED ICON), DMV Genie
4. Read the handbook once or twice - sections General, Air Brakes, Combination Vehicles
5. Practice tests - practice General, Air Brakes, Combination Vehicles (no combination vehicle for class B). Once you get 90% on practice tests, you are ready to go to DMV for the tests. Keep in mind - you will have to take your class C written test too, -*and M1 if you have that also.
6. You will also need a DOT medical exam before you go to the DMV - it should not cost more than $50 for the exam.

PRICING INFORMATION
We offer a program for new drivers as well as for those who have previous truck driving experience. The only requirement for class A or B is a learners permit from the DMV, and if you dont have one, call our office and we will help you obtain it. Posted prices are CASH prices. Check will need to be cleared for two weeks. As of December 2021, we no longer accept cards due to fraud.
